SCULPTRA
As we age, our body naturally slows its production of collagen. Collagen is a protein that is responsible for providing structure and framework to the skin and connective tissues; it is what makes your skin appear smooth, supple, and plump. When the body’s collagen production slows down, it can cause volume loss, exaggerate lines and wrinkles, causing you to appear older.
WHAT IS SCULPTRA?
Sculptra is an FDA-approved minimally invasive injectable dermal filler that helps gradually restore collagen in the body. It is made of a synthetic version of poly-L-lactic acid, which is absorbed gradually by the body and begins to build new collagen.
Sculptra is used to treat facial volume loss, marionette lines, and chin wrinkles, and it can give you a naturally younger-looking appearance.
- Volume loss cheeks
- Nasolabial folds (Parenthesis)
- Temple hollows
- Jawline (for definition)
- Cellulite
- Butt augmentation or “hip dip”
WHAT MAKES SCULPTRA DIFFERENT?
Sculptra is different from other injectable dermal fillers because it creates results gradually and is known as a collagen stimulator.
Many dermal fillers will deliver results immediately; however, the results only last for around six months to a year before more treatments are needed. With Sculptra, you will start to see natural-looking results gradually, and these results can last for up to two years.
BEFORE GETTING SCULPTRA INJECTIONS
Before your Sculptra treatment, the areas in which you will receive the injections will be marked. A topical anesthetic may be applied to the targeted areas before your treatment. You should also make sure to mention any medications you are taking before getting Sculptra.
THE TREATMENT PROCEDURE
A very fine needle or cannula will be used to inject Sculptra into the targeted areas of the face. Typically, getting a Sculptra injection takes anywhere from twenty minutes to 30 minutes. It is often referred to as a “lunchtime procedure” because of the short length of time it takes to complete.
NO DOWNTIME NEEDED
There is no downtime required after getting Sculptra injections, so you can return to your normal daily activities right after your treatment. You may experience some temporary redness, pain, swelling, and/or bruising at the injection sites. These minor side effects usually go away within a day or two.
You should avoid heavy exercise or sun exposure after getting Sculptra injections. If you must be in the sun, be sure to apply sunscreen with proper SPF to your face and wear a hat to protect your skin.
YOUR SCULPTRA RESULTS
You may see results from your treatment 4 to 6 weeks after your first injection. Typically, it takes anywhere from two to three sessions of injections over the course of a few months to see full results from Sculptra. Results from Sculptra injections can last up to two years and sometimes even longer.
